Are You Losing Customers with Your Email Address? Three Secrets to Creating Email Addresses That Attract Customers!

Are You Losing Customers with Your Email Address? Three Secrets to Creating Email Addresses That Attract Customers!

email, emails, email address, email addresses, gmailWhen I work with enthusiastic entrepreneurs in my programs, I ask them for their email address to send them additional information. I’d say about 95% of these entrepreneurs give me an email address that ends in @gmail.com or @yahoo.com. Some of them even have active websites and continue to use these addresses for contact with their customers or potential customers.

You could be losing customers by using gmail.com, yahoo.com, and similar types of emails. Here are the reasons why:

  • By using these emails, it says to potential customers that they are dealing with someone who is temporary or doesn’t know what they are doing.
  • New customers will not do business with a company that has a Gmail or Yahoo address. Many customers think they are dealing with scammers.
  • These types of email are not branding your business. They are branding Google or Yahoo. I don’t think they need any additional help with their branding.
  • Some government agencies will not do business with companies with these emails. These government agencies feel that the potential companies they are considering working with are not in it for the long-term and could also be untrustworthy.
  • Gmail and Yahoo mail have aggressive spam filters. If you don’t know how to set these filters, you might risk the chance of never receiving customer requests that can lead to new business for your company

Going forward, you need to take action to give your customers and potential customers the most professional image of your company. The following are three steps you can take today to enhance your image and brand, make sure you get emails from potential customers, and increase your bottom line:

  1. Decide on Your Domain Name – The quicker you decide on your domain name, the quicker you can start creating your email addresses. Once you have your domain name, you can start creating emails with your company name, e.g. yourname@yourcompany.com
  2. Invest in a Hosting Service – A hosting service is the space where you host your website files. It allows your visitors to find you and your information. With any good hosting service, you can work within your Control Panel, or cpanel, to create as many email addresses with your @yourcompany.com address. Two hosting services I recommend are hostgator.com and bluehost.com. They are user friendly, reliable, have an abundance of features, and you can easily create your emails in the cpanel.
  3. Maximize Your Email Experience – Now that you have your domain name and hosting service, maximize your email by setting up your administrative and marketing emails. The basic emails you should have setup are info@yourcompany.com for information requests, yourname@yourcompany.com for personal connections, webmaster@yourcompanyname.com for any website related inquiries, and emails for other employees at your company. You should also have emails for your various marketing and sales email campaigns. For example, if you have an email campaign where you are selling shoes, you can have them respond using the email shoes@yourcompanyname.com. That way you know where your lead came from.

Bonus Tip: Watch your vanity email addresses.  Some vanity do not translate well across the world and can be down right offensive.  They may be cute, but are these worth you losing customers?

Now that you have this information, take the steps to brand your email. Once you do, you will experience more leads and sales for your company. I think you would like that, wouldn’t you?

Is Your Blog Google Mobile Friendly? Five Secrets to Avoiding Google Penalties

Is Your Blog Google Mobile Friendly? Five Secrets to Avoiding Google Penalties

mobile devices, tablets, smartphones, iphone, PC, blogIs your blog or website Google mobile-friendly?  That is the question you will be asking yourself starting April 21st.  That is when Google starts implementing their mobile-friendly update (nicknamed Mobilegeddon) for ranking your blog or website for page placement in their search engine.

I wrote about making your blog mobile-ready back in December.  Why is it important to you to make your blog or website mobile-friendly?  Because Google will boost the ranking of mobile-friendly pages while penalizing non-mobile-friendly websites. This could mean lower page placement in Google, lost blog traffic, lost leads, and lost business.  No one wants that.  The following is an excerpt from a recent Google blog post:

“We’re boosting the ranking of mobile-friendly pages on mobile search results. Now searchers can more easily find high-quality and relevant results where text is readable without tapping or zooming, tap targets are spaced appropriately, and the page avoids unplayable content or horizontal scrolling.

This update:

  • Affects only search rankings on mobile devices
  • Affects search results in all languages globally
  • Applies to individual pages, not entire websites

While the mobile-friendly change is important, we still use a variety of signals to rank search results. The intent of the search query is still a very strong signal — so even if a page with high quality content is not mobile-friendly, it could still rank high if it has great content for the query.”

So how do we take advantage of this Google mobile-friendly update and continue to drive blog traffic to our websites?  The following are three steps you can take today:

  1. Test to see if your blog is mobile-friendly at Mobile Usability report in Webmaster Tools
  2. Test to see if individual pages are mobile-friendly at Mobile-Friendly Test
  3. Use mobile-friendly themes
  4. Use Responsive blog themes
  5. Use a WordPress plugin like WPTouch or Dudamobile

It is important for you to keep your blog on the first pages of Google and other search engines.  Take the action steps mentioned above and you will be ready for Google’s mobile-ready update.

Ten Secrets to Using Social Media to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

Ten Secrets to Using Social Media to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

Blog Content, blogs, blogger, bloggingBlog traffic starts the whole success process of your business. Without blog traffic, you have no leads, and without leads you don’t have the possibility of converting those leads into customers. Hopefully, you are investing time trying to gain new blog traffic for your business.

Social media is a great way for you to acquire new traffic. If done correctly, you will have a system for developing an endless flow of blog traffic for your business.

Here are seven secrets to using social media to gain blog traffic for your website:

  1. Create Compelling Content – Compelling content is what will attract readers to your blog, keep them there, and have them share your content with others. Create content that is entertaining, informational, and valuable for your readers. Mix up the type of content you provide with text, video, audio, and graphics. Link with other blogs that will compliment your content to show that you value your readers.
  2. Start a Facebook Page for Your Blog – Facebook is one of the largest and most established social media sites in the world. Facebook provides a vast potential marketplace for leads and customers. The key to using Facebook for business is creating and maintaining an entertaining Facebook Fan Page. You can generate traffic back to your blog by consistently posting interesting videos, memes, contests, etc. Provide links for your blog offering to see more of the same type of content.
  3. Get on Twitter – Create a Twitter account for your business blog at twitter.com and start tweeting your content. You can use up to 140 characters to create a tweet. However, you should only use 120 characters so others can retweet, or share, your content. Twitter is great for sharing links, announcing specials or contests, and posing questions. With all of these, always direct your audience back to your blog.
  4. Make the Most Out of LinkedIn – Join LinkedIn and start adding content. Make the most out of LinkedIn by starting groups and participating in groups relating to your marketplace. Post interesting content that your audience would interact with, enjoy and case Boss vs. Leaderthem to click on your blog link. Here is an example of a post of a picture I posted on It generated robust interaction. The post also generated enormous blog traffic.
  5. Pin it on Pinterest – The magic of Pinterest is the graphical nature of the content posted (called pins) on “boards” in your profile for others to share. Each of these pictures has links back to your blog. Again, pin interesting, eye-catching photos that make your viewers want to stop and click on the picture to gain more information.
  6. Post Videos on YouTube and Other Video Hosting Sites – YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world. Every second of the day millions of people are going to YouTube to be entertained, educated, and find solutions to their problems. If you can produce video that can do that, then YouTube is the place for you! During the video or in your profile, you can include your link that brings traffic back to your blog.
  7. Promote Your Blog with Social Bookmarking Sites – DIGG, Stumbleupon, Reddit, and others are examples of social bookmarketing sites. Bookmarketing is different from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites. Unlike Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, you are not concerned with getting likes or fans; you concentrate on placing information on Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, and other sites so people can find your information.
8. Implement social sharing tools on your website. An excellent tool is Shareaholic, which allows you to place buttons for sharing options via Twitter, Facebook, email, and social bookmarking sites into one tool. Shareaholic also gives you great analytics so you can see how your content is being shared.
  9. Make It Easy to Comment – Allow engagement with your audience by using WordPress tools such as Disqus, IntenseDebate, or Livefyre. You can form a robust community of engaged viewers who want to share their comments and opinions. With these tools, you can control how and if these comments appear on your blog and how you want to communicate with these commenters.
  10. Write Catchy Headlines – Write headlines that make potential readers want to read, engage, and share your posts. People are looking for solutions, and headlines let them know exactly what they will achieve by reading your content. A very interesting tool to help you write headlines is the Headline Analyzer at www.aminstitute.com/headline/index.htm.

Blog traffic is the life blood of any blog. Our success of gaining massive blog traffic depends on the variety of resources we use to gain this traffic. Follow the ten social media techniques for obtaining massive blog traffic and you will also have more than enough visitors to make your blog and business successful!
